Two-Part Assignment

  1. Write a Visual Canon, with 12 “measures”
  2. Explain it in words - that is, write the story of the pictures
  3. Write a Musical Canon, with 12 measures, to go with the story above
  4. Write the lyrics to go with the story and measure of music

The sun, and rain, clouds and snow are weather. Trees are full bloom, or bare, depending on the weather. The seasons are planned for growth.

  1. Come in on “FIRST BEAT”
  2. Box above or below sun image can “NOT GO” – be DISSONANT
  3. Musical Fugue - measureBox above or below cloud image can “NOT GO” – be DISSONANT
  4. Resolve dissonance on 2nd or 4th “BEAT”


  1. 4 beats to measure – begin and end on C
  2. 3rd and 5th ; and 6th octaves – match – consanant
  3. 2nd, 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th: Do not match – Dissonance
  4. Resolve Dissonance on 1st or 3rd (or 2nd or 4th) beat on (or 2nd or 4th)
